For over twenty-five years, I have created paintings, sculptures, installations, animation, and design.

ARTIST STATEMENT 2026 — INSOOK HWANG

Presence Becomes Visible.

My work explores the invisible dimensions of presence, consciousness, energy, and creativity. Through my art, I send love and positive energy into the world. The forms I create are born from this energy. Energy becomes visible.

Whether they emerge as paintings, sculptures, installations, moving images, sound, digital spaces, or design, these forms are different manifestations of the same creative energy. They multiply, connect, transform, and expand across media and space.

My visual language moves freely between the organic and geometric—from cell-like forms, bubbles, net structures, and abstract symbols to sculptural and digital forms. Individual elements often function like living cells or units, gathering and connecting to create larger structures and multidimensional spaces.

My practice is not defined by a single medium. Forms migrate from one medium to another, allowing painting, sculpture, installation, animation, sound, digital media, and design to interact and evolve. Each becomes another expression of the same living presence and creative energy.

I set the direction. The form grows and evolves. Every work is a unique expression of the same living presence and creative energy.

Through these continually evolving forms, my work carries love and positive energy into new experiences.

BIOGRAPHY — INSOOK HWANG

INSOOK HWANG is a multidisciplinary artist and designer and the founder of SUPERPOWERART.

Born in South Korea, she earned an M.E. in Art Education from Seoul National University (1994) and an M.F.A. in Painting, with a minor in Sculpture, from The City College of New York (1999).

For more than twenty-five years, Hwang has exhibited internationally across Korea, the United States, and Europe. Her work has been presented at Asia Culture Center (2023), Daegu Art Museum (2020), Clio Art Fair, New York (2020), Real Art Ways (2015), Richmond Art Center at Loomis Chaffee (2013), Officina Asia, Italy (2004), and Busan Biennale (2002).

Her multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, animation, digital media, sound, and design, exploring the invisible dimensions of presence, consciousness, energy, and creativity.

SUPERPOWERART extends this artistic practice into wearable art, design, and collectible objects, bringing the same creative energy into everyday life. Within SUPERPOWERART, Hwang created ASTRA SOL™ by SUPERPOWERART, a signature art and design brand through which her artistic language expands into objects designed to be worn, carried, and experienced.

Across her work, Hwang creates forms and experiences that carry love and positive energy.
